What are the requirements to play football in college?

I only played one year of high school football and next year I will be a junior. I do not play any more but I have a great size. I am also underage which makes me think I will grow more. I am 5′10 192 lbs. I played LB/CENTER but I do not play anymore. Are theer any requirements for me to play to college? I do not mean get a scholarship I just want to know if I can try out for a college football team when I get accepted. and what is a walk on? Ill be graduating high school when im 17 im looking to go to GA tech , maybe valdosta. If I get accepted in those I woudl like to try out for the football team..I love football even though I played only one year. I know all about it, I also played Strong safety.
Do you have to have played in HS to be able to play in college?
i run a 4.9 flat last time i ran it
i gained a lot of weight freshman year, that was without whey protein or any powders, now i will start working ou tnad taking whey protein to get at least to 210 lbs i wanna play LB
i do realize that most freshman start playing as safety so i might look into that, i still keep in touch with my football coach, i even asked him if he had time in the weekends to coach me , even though i dont play fb anymore

yeah. All colleges will let you try out to walk on if you are accepted

most colleges will want high school experience but if you’re accepted at a college you can try out

experience helps, yes you can walk on try out along as your a student, why not playing now sounds like you have time left,

You can always try out to be a walk -on scout team player. A walk-on is someone who is not on scholarship for their sport. all teams have them but only a limited number. At tech your are going to have to make it through a try-out before they will ever let you practice with the team

once your in college you can speak to the coaches in the of-season and try to work-out with the team as a walk-on in the Spring.

HS football is not a pre-requisite. but it helps to know the game and to have experience

If you’re looking to be a linebacker at GT, you might want to try and pack on a few more to the 210. As for the 4.9, that’s a good speed, but try different exercises to get a better speed burst. Try to get to a 4.7-4.8 range. Just keep hitting the weights, and doing drills, walk on and hey, who knows! Best of luck.
