What would be your first impression of an asian football player?

I am chinese and i play football so i am not being racist asking this question. I just know that there aren’t many asians that play football, but the few that i know or have played against are some of the toughest and most determined i’ve ever played against or with. What would be your first impression of say a chinese man playing in the NFL or a top college football team. I just want to know people’s opinions.

1st Impression: Weirdo!!! 2nd: Pretty Cool! 3rd. WOW!

    GREAT FOR YOU!!!!!!
You do what ever you want to do!

  2. Esmeralda Senior Said:

If you got what it takes go for it. Color or race doesn’t matter….Look at Yao and Ichiro….you just have to be able to cut the cheese.

  3. Marisol Lacey Said:

I think it would be WONDERFUL, I hate to see any sport or event represent only one type of person. Good for you, hope to see you on TV soon.

  4. Rebekah Bull Said:

that would be funny. don’t wrry, i’m asian too and i like to play football too. i wouldn’t wrry to much…. it’s just that other races are more atheletically known. Asians mostly saty with the books

  5. Abbigail Dickinson Said:

that would be cool. im quarter chinese. i dont think the first impression will matter as long as the player is really good

  6. Caitlyn Bowen Said:

If he’s skilled enough to do well in the position, I could care less whether he’s Asian, American, African, Samoan, Canadian, or whatever.

  7. Hillary Belcher Said:

I’d LOVE it, because I think Asian guys are pretty sexy and athletic Chinese guys leave me droolin on the carpet. ;) However I admit I’d be a little surprised, just like I was when I first saw Yao Ming, though the shock on him came from his incredible height. It’s just not something most Asian guys seem interested in, at least not the ones in the US that I have known. I wish more of them would get involved in sports so I could see them buffed up and running around with their shirts off in practice, heh.

I would hope that in today’s America it doesn’t matter. I know to me, if there was a guy who was 100% asian playing wideout for a team that i’m a fan of I’d like him a whole lot more than a white/black guy who couldn’t catch at all, and that goes for any position. If you have the skills, go for it.

  9. Wyatt Harper Said:

I got no problem with an Asian football player especially if they may have a future in it.

  10. Jaydan Mccluskey Said:

Well i remember Dat Ngyn on the Cowboys, and yes i probally butchered his name, also look at teams like USC and Hawaii full of Samoans who are part asian

  11. Meadow Wong Said:

Hey, if they can play the sport well enough to make it to college or the pros, I say good for them! Look at the Samoans and their contribution to the sport. Some of the toughest linemen in the sports history have Samoan roots. And Vietnamese Dat Nyguen has had a pretty good pro career after excelling at Texas A&M in his college days.

Then there’s Timmy Chang, who lit up the skies for Hawaii in 2005 by breaking scores of passing records.

  12. Nathanial Duffy Said:

Race has nothing to do with your skill or toughness. I like the Dallas Cowboys and one of their best linebackers in recent years was Dat Nguyen who is Vietnamese-American. He was pretty good but suffered a neck injury and had to retire before the start of this season

  13. Yahir Hainsworth Said:

That would be so cool. Tiki Barber’s kids might play football if their mom let them :-P I’m 25% Chinese and nothing would make me more proud seeing an Asian playing in the NFL.

  14. Luka Kent Said:

it can be done. dat nguyen was a really good LB for dallas, i dunno what happened to him. kailee wong was a player for the texans dunno what happened to him. and timmy chang i think was on the eagles practice squad or something like that. there are a few half asians in the NFL such as hines ward, will demps, johnny and chad morton.

  15. Salvador Johnston Said:

The only Asian I can recall seeing play football was Dat Nguyen,
a linebacker from Vietnam. He played for Texas A&M, then for
the Dallas Cowboys. He wasn’t the biggest LB to play the game,
but he was very good. If you can play, it doesn’t matter if you are a Martian, people will love you.

  16. Milton Sandford Said:

I don’t think Cowboy Fan would go for this, but I think it would be awesome. Most Asians I know are smarter, stronger mentally, than most, well I say it us. You are right they are very determined by nature of there race, ops did I say race yea I did and I’m far from Cowboy Fan, I’m not racist. I would hope the first one plays on the Bears it would be perfect. Hi ya, right in the fortune cookie Cowboy Fan. Go Bears!

  17. Gaige Baxendale Said:

I’m not racist so I wouldn’t have a problem with it. But there are so many people that are racist you will probably have to watch your back.

  18. Reynaldo Bridgwater Said:

well, i’m gonna need to see this asian players stats before i make any judgements

  19. Lily Boddington Said:

i’d be really impressed because you don’t really see asians doing sports, which is a real disappointment (probably because i’m asian and feel that we aren’t really getting anywhere in sports). it’d be great if you played in the nfl or top college football team.

  20. Izaiah Earl Said:

    It depends.

If he is on my team he is great. If he is on my rival, he is a bum.

The Asian part does not come into it.

If you are good or bad it doesn’t matter if your a friggin’ Martian.
